Hindu Vrat Calendar
All major fasting days for 2026–2027: Purnima, Amavasya, Pradosh, Chaturthi, and Masik Shivaratri.
Vrat (व्रत) — a sacred vow of fasting — is one of the most ancient spiritual practices in Hinduism. Each lunar phase and tithi carries its own energy and presiding deity. Aligning your fast with the correct tithi amplifies the spiritual benefit and invokes the blessings of that deity. These dates are computed for Delhi (IST) and may vary by ±1 day based on your local sunrise.

Why Observe Vrat?
Lunar alignment
Each tithi corresponds to the moon's position, which influences the water in our bodies and our emotional and mental states. Fasting on specific tithis helps synchronise the body's energy with the cosmic rhythm.
Deity blessings
Every vrat is dedicated to a specific deity. The act of fasting, prayer, and restraint opens the devotee's heart to receive the grace of that deity — whether Shiva, Vishnu, Ganesha, or the ancestors.
Tapas (austerity)
Fasting generates tapas — inner heat or austerity — which purifies the subtle body, strengthens willpower, and dissolves accumulated karma. Even a partial fast is spiritually recognised.
Physical reset
Ayurveda teaches that the body digests better with periodic fasting. A lunar-cycle-aligned fast gives the digestive system a break, reduces ama (toxins), and improves clarity and energy.
